A paid undergraduate position is available to assist with the development of a lumbar spine finite element model for the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratories (MRL, http://mrl.sci.utah.edu/). The model is being ported from commercial software to the FEBio software suite (http://febio.org/). FEBio is open-source finite element software developed by the MRL.
The candidate should be an undergraduate at the University of Utah and have taken or be enrolled in Biomechanics I (BIOEN 4250). Previous experience with finite element software and/or CAD/CAM software, knowledge of the finite-element method and/or continuum mechanics, and being enrolled in or have taken Biomechanics II (BIOEN 5250) and/or Intro to Finite Elements (ME EN 5510) are a plus. The candidate will be expected to commit an average of 10-20 hours per week to the position.
