Ahmet Erdemir-Cleveland Clinic-new way to look at kneeThe Cleveland Clinic was profiled in a Crain’s Cleveland Business article regarding the virtual biomechanical representations of the knee. The Open Knee(s) project lead by Ahmet Erdemir, allows a small community of researchers to participate/contribute with the investigation of  knee biomechanics and the development of 3-D finite element representations of the knee joint. Simulations and analysis for this project rely on FEBio, a software package developed by the MusculoSkeletal Research Lab (MRL) at  University of Utah. In general, these models could allow for a better understanding of knee joint mechanobiology and identifying various problems that arise under different conditions, while providing the initiative and motivation that could lead to new orthopaedic inventions and implants.
