Merrill Engineering BuildingThe Musculoskeletal Research Laboratories, located in the Merrill Engineering Building at the University of Utah, include 2300 square feet of laboratory and office space dedicated to research in experimental and computational biomechanics. The space is divided between three wet labs, a computing lab and office space. The wet laboratories are equipped for cell culture, mechanical testing and materials characterization, molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopic analyses of cells and tissues. An assortment of custom materials testing machines and fixtures are used for performing materials characterization and analysis of joint kinematics. Computing hardware and custom software provide the capabilities for modeling the unique material behavior and boundary conditions encountered in biomechanical analyses.
